Hi everybody, we’ve bought a new down comforter and got a nice duvet cover for it in our Scar Room for anyone who’s gonna get drunk and won’t be able to go home in the next singing party. :-)

At first my husband thought the duvet was too big – but I guess it’s the same size (king) with maybe a few extra inches at the sides. Top to bottom it fits fine - and I don’t mind taking the sides in a little if necessary. Recently I’ve found a way to keep the comforter from bunching up inside the duvet and My husband’s stopped tossing the coverings aside now. :-)

However, it gets in the single digits here at night and we turn our heat down to 50 so need a good warm comforter. We have a Temperpedic mattress and they say not to use an electric blanket with them. The mattress adjusts to your body temperature where you are laying but I don’t have much body heat and if I turn over – I end up in a cold spot again. Last winter I used a small heating pad in the lower end to pre-heat the bed as my feet are always cold.

That’s the reason we’ll need a very warm comforter and I finally purchased a Hotel Collection, Hungarian White Goose Down. 700 Fill Power, but only 36oz Fill Weight.

This is where the funny story begins. It’s called a Lightweight – but the salesperson said that’s the weight of the comforter – as in “it’s not heavy”. On the web I read that down from the colder countries is better and for the warmest comforter get the highest fill power with the lowest fill weight. On the HC website the reviews are mostly great. But when I shake it out the down just looks so sparse I’m concerned. If I’m going to return it, I need to do so now and purchase something else.

They’ve been on sale for 60% off plus another 15% – however, the local Macys only stocked the Lightweight, and nothing heavier than the Medium weight in the other brands.

Anyway I think things are getting fine now. I have friends that think they are designers and said everything should match but what one of them has suggested sounds perfect. Never thought about black frames and other pieces. And only the table and base are black wrought iron.

The room is painted Gaucho which is a light brown and the ceilings, crown molding and baseboard are white. That is why I thought white would look OK. At first I thought I would have to have everything black…but pictures I have looked at always have everything match but they are wood pieces.

I just knew I would get great advice. Parker, the Special designer, you really have made my day.

By the way, have you guys prepared your voice well for the singing party? One of our customers (The one who owns a site about relationship problem, remember?) has also got a site called Singing Plus, which has some great tips about singing. So if you’re serious to get the “Spotlight Reward” that night, practice your voice well before you come, he suggested reading his singing success review which I think is a review about an online singing program and I think he’ll earn some commission if you buy through his review as he’s doing things like the internet marketing commission stuffs.

Anyway, that’s it for today and I look forward to getting crazy with you guys in the singing party!

Have a great day!

This is the Bar Street in Beijing where me and my husband went to last year! Check it out!

I think I have gotten myself into a jam here, and I hope someone out there has a reasonably priced solution for my bar. My husband and I converted several old bar rooms into office-slash-TV-room a couple of weeks ago, and now we’d like to put a loveseat in there for TV viewing so our customer (mostly lovers) can really enjoy the atmosphere here.

The problem is the doorway: It’s 27 1/4″ wide. I really don’t see how we can get a standard loveseat in there! (We’d like something nice and squishy and comfy, not something that is mostly wood with a little bit of padding.) Are there any furniture companies that make furniture that disassembles? Or can anyone give me another idea on how to deal with this? (Oh, and the windows are even more narrow than the door. So there’s no shoving it in through the window either.)

My husband recently came across a website about woodworking and the site recommends a woodworking plan in its teds woodworking review and it seems a workable solution (especially these log furniture plans seem very easy to do). But the thing is we’ll have to spend some time learning from the start since we have zero experience (frankly not even my husband has any idea how to do it). So we may buy the plan for future use but probably not for now.

How about IKEA? I saw their sofas come unassembled There are some sofas with very low back frames of about 27″ without the cushions on.

It actually has a couple of cheap(ish) loveseats that are not gorgeous, but they’re the right size, and as Jayne points out, they come disassembled, which is perfect. In a household where the four cats and two kids just tear up the furniture anyway, there’s no point in gorgeous or expensive furniture!

Actually last year, one thing my husband did in his old house – the living room was TINY and to put a Christmas tree in the room, he’d have to move the loveseat out. His only option was to move it around a corner into a small office with a 28 inch doorway.  He said we should remove the legs, stand it up on its end and wiggle and pull it through around the angle of the door, just like when you’re making a left hand turn in a car -pull the back through, pushing the seat against the door jam, and then swinging it on through. It was a huge overstuffed monstrosity and it survived without any problems.  So do you think I should just wrangle it into the room?

A customer also suggested me to try companies that offer modular pieces and just place them next to each other to form a two or three seaters.

Now there are too many ideas but none seems to perfectly fit our bar roo. So I’d love to hear any ideas from you guys about getting a loveseat into that room!

Thank you very much!
